Lately, a few things have been weird. Weird and frustrating. I think that it's normal that when you want to close off work that has taken you 5 years to complete (including delays due to equipment failure), to expect the people who have supervised you during that period to be helpful in facilitating your wishes. Particularly when it would take zero supervision and minimal demand on resources. Well, I recently discovered just how capricious such entities can be, to the point of stone walling an eight hour experiment that only requires UV, a power pack and a fluorimeter. So, **** it. You live, you learn, and you grow in your expectations to be messed about for the most petty and trivial reasons.
A lot of things have revealed themselves to be so wastefully unimportant. But, this has also highlighted the important things. The important things, thank you. These include friends in Portugal and SB.

I have some Portuguese wine and a packet of Argolinhas (preto) from Pingo Doce. :o)
