wtf

I was looking at an article on BBC news site about prisons. I love the confusion of the concept of "hinted" with the word "definaetly". Of course in fairness, it was said by a politician and their word is hardly their bond.
Further down is the reluctance to use such emotive words such as suicide and instead saying "self inflicted death". Thinks.. what instead of murder? Second party participatory terminations? oh ffs.

Haggis...

Last night I had a fun time of Haggis, Turnip and Potatoes. Don't know why they are capitalised. I thought the Haggis merited the attention, and then I got carried away. The Haggis had been surreptitiously transported from the homeland when I returned and I was a little concerned that it might not have made the journey completely prepared for consumption. Then I looked at the ingredients. Now I know not to do this, but I did and there, right at the start, were "sheep's lungs". I prefer not to think about it too much.
Anyway, I cooked the bugger and everything was fine. I then went mad and listened to pipe music and The Proclaimers for about an hour. I also had some nice Glenmorangie Cask 13, and a couple of those were had also.
It's Friday, and no ill effects. I fed some to the dog too, just in case. If we are both ill, my cooking can be blamed. Actually, the dog is getting a little portly, so at least she's no longer starving.

Next week, I'm doing this:

This Friday the 18th...

This is what I'm doing this Friday. Nice mix of indi and electronic music, venturing into teh more sublime and including some very good Portuguese acts that I've come across.

weather report

Today's weather. I should mention, the top figure is the time, the middle is the room temperature, and the bottom is the temperature on my balcony. The sensor is currently a bit exposed, so it is temperature in the sun. Might build a little box to house it in. Still, Quite mild.

As you can see, despite being reasonably warm, it is also has the potential to be a bit stormy. Pretty though.

Finally, whilst in back Scotland SB and I saw this truck. It was transporting something from knockhill, I presume a rather surreal type of racing car, with an undercurrent of dark forces about it.

Guimaraes weather report

So, Flew back to GuimarĂ£es yesterday. The strangely familiar 4.30 am drive to Edinburgh airport was made more fun by the blizzard conditions on the M8. As SB did a lane change and we hit a bank of slushy snow I concentrated on all the potential dangers and required a trouser change upon reaching the destination. I have to admit, my reaction to car travel just now is comparable to that of a Victorian grandmother. The concept of travelling any faster than a horse drawn carriage brings on palpitations and leaves me feeling quite giddy. 50 mph? are you mad sir!! surely the friction generated from moving the air around us would cause us to spontaneously combust!
Got there safe, flew to Frankfurt (weird place, but now strangely familiar), avoided McDonalds, bummed around for around 4 hours, then off to Porto and an unfeasibly long train journey. Very dull.
Finally on getting back to G, I was walking to the apartment and I saw these tiny baby lizards wandering around ever so slowly. I confess when I saw the first one I thought it was a twig and did nothing to avoid crushing it below my mighty physical form, then I saw another and hopped the rest of the way, lifting my 20 kg of hold luggage and my close to 15 kg of hand luggage, inc. laptop (Air Berlin can eat my CPU, 8 kg indeed!) over the heads of the collection of slow moving baby lizards and snails. All seemed to be doing widths.
Today is the first report of temperature following the smashing pressie of thermometer with remote sensor. I got a very nice chess set for Christmas, photos to follow.

Happy New Year...

Looking at the news, the world seems to be going slightly mad.
So, please, don't exterminate, be like the friendly Daleks and have a Happy New Year.
