3 Mobile Broadband

When I came back to the UK, I needed internet. I looked around at mobile broadband and the 3 dongle seemed like a good plan. Until it started playing up... Their phone line is fine, people are nice enough, but when it came down to actually helping with the problem there was nothing they could do. Then I got a mad email suggesting all sorts of stuff to clear up the problem. It read a little like one of those mad lists you send the Nigerian scamsters just to take the piss. I will put the email online shortly. If you are thinking of buying one of these, check your coverage zone. Also, go into a store and ask then the difficult questions. What do they do in the even of a problem etc. Word of warning, the Three Day service turnaround doesn't include weekends. Why? So when they checked to see if there was a fault with my modem it took six days. Several stores mentioned that they couldn't connect to the internet either, but only found out by trying to connect and apparently the head office hadn't communicated the source of the problem, nor how long it would take to fix.
3 might become a new religion, because you would really need faith to stay with them. I don't have it. I have transfered to Vodafone.
This whine was brought to you via a functioning Vodafone broadband connection.

This week...

This week I am mainly based on The Black Isle. This is fabulous as you can no doubt guess by the name.
My purpose? I have to extract the magic number of water samples from the minions of Saramon; thwarting them with my white van driving expertise. I’m staying in the same hotel I was last week in a place called Carrbridge. I can’t actually fault the people. They are all completely pleasant and why they aren’t killing tourists for fun I have no idea. If these people lived in a city, they’d be sooo calm. I’m basing this on a rather pulled out of the air idea of inverse proportionality.
They have a band on just now. The band are/is (one guy, vocals, guitar, backing tape) terrible. He played the same shit last week. Even then, elderly people, far in excess of autumnal, were staggering into the bar complaining that the band was utter shite. The Huddersfield accent always makes me smile. The guy plays the same crap week in week out. Is he happy?
Todays highlight was driving to the end of some dirt track to a farm house with two Border Collies that barked and howled so much I wanted to drive at them. There was a tiny little lap dog thing, totally out of it’s depth, which barked twice then looked at me and wagged it’s tail in a “I don’t really like dogs, help!” way. For it’s sake, I reversed with the utmost care.
I bought a Bluetooth dongle from Tesco in Dingwall. The software is shite. There is a reason why this was £9.97.

Lazy Fecker

I am a lazy blogger. I have tonnes to say but can’t pull my finger out to say any of it.

what i did instead of having holidays...

Recently I have been a bit crap. I haven’t been posting and have gone quiet because I didn’t really want to face the truth of not being able to get to Portugal, what with starting a job the Monday before and having spent most of my accrued money foolishly avoiding signing on.
So, work is collecting water samples which is not exciting, but will pay some of my bills. I have taken some photos recently and will try and get them online as soon as I can. Currently, I am in Inverness, which is quite nice but the hotel is in a one horse town, but has an old bridge. Actually, it’s just the arch from the bridge, but without the arch part there’s no space for things to pass through and essentially you have a wall.
Check back for photos. Sorry I didn’t make it to Portugal :o(

what's going on??

Busy week doing I can’t remember what. I had an interview for a job on Thursday and I was terribly and unjustifiably nervous. The job isn’t sooo challenging, but it pays much better than minimum wage, is valid experience and is near this.

Of course all this screws my trip to Portugal. That was looking sketchy anyway, given that I hadn’t asked my friendly local authority for any money and had been living off my frugal savings and selling one of the minis.
I have more to say, but need to feel that I have time to get it down. So this is really just a quick bulletin.
